Kopaonik is Serbia's best-known mountain and its largest ski resort, with Pančić's Peak (2,017 m) and national-park status. In winter it is a skiers' paradise — over 55 km of groomed slopes and reliable snow from December to April, with ski schools for beginners. In summer, while the cities swelter, the mountain air stays pleasantly cool: hiking, viewpoints, the Jelovarnik waterfall (the highest in Serbia) and mountain lakes.
