Sirogojno: the Old Village open-air museum on Zlatibor — a guide

Sirogojno is a village on the slopes of Zlatibor, known for its "Old Village" open-air museum and a tradition of hand-knitting (the famous Sirogojno jumpers).

The Old Village

The "Old Village" museum gathers authentic log houses and outbuildings of a late-19th-century Zlatibor village, moved and restored in one place. Through the houses, granaries, dairies and workshops it recreates village life, crafts and customs of old Zlatibor.

What else to see and do

Beyond the museum, Sirogojno is known for hand-knitted wool and home cooking. Nearby are a church, workshops and walking paths, and the whole of Zlatibor with the Gold Gondola, Stopića Cave and Mokra Gora is within easy reach.

When to go

Spring to autumn is loveliest for the museum and walks; winter is snowy and calm.

Getting there

From Belgrade about 240 km via Užice and Zlatibor, around 3.5 hours. A car is most practical.
