Divčibare: a mountain air resort near Belgrade — a guide

Divčibare is a mountain settlement on Maljen in western Serbia, known for its mild climate, pine forests and clean air. Thanks to its closeness to Belgrade (about two hours) and Valjevo, it is popular for weekend breaks all year.

What to do

The main draw is walking and hiking on marked forest trails, cycling and, in winter, small ski slopes suited to beginners and children. Nearby are viewpoints, the Crna Reka and its canyon, and trips towards Povlen and the monasteries. The air and calm make Divčibare popular for recovery and for families.

When to go

All year: summer for the cool air and walks, autumn for the colours, winter for snow and a quieter mountain weekend. Thanks to the altitude it is pleasantly cooler than the lowlands even in summer.

Getting there

From Belgrade about 110 km via Valjevo, around 2 hours. A car is most practical.
