Palić: lake, park and Art Nouveau in the north

Published: 10/06/2026

Palić is one of the best-known resorts in northern Serbia, just a few kilometres from Subotica. Around its lake stretches a landscaped park, and the whole place is famous for its early-20th-century Art Nouveau architecture.

The shallow steppe lake is ideal for a quiet family holiday, with beaches, promenades and cycling paths. Its symbols are the Water Tower and Grand Terrace. Palić is also known for its zoo, the European Film Festival and local wine.

Accommodation ranges from Art Nouveau villas and hotels to lakeside apartments. Palić is about two hours from Belgrade by motorway via Subotica.
