Prolom Banja: healing water and the nearby Devil's Town — a guide

Prolom Banja is a spa in southern Serbia, on the slopes of the Radan mountain in the Kuršumlija municipality. It is known for its healing Prolom water (bottled and drunk across the country), mountain air and the closeness of the Devil's Town natural phenomenon.

Springs and treatment

Prolom water is alkaline and low in minerals, used to treat the kidneys, urinary tract, skin and digestion, as well as for drinking. Alongside medical programmes, wellness is developed. No referral is needed for a holiday.

What to see and do

The main nearby attraction is the Devil's Town — a natural monument with over 200 earthen towers topped by stone "caps", once a finalist for the New Seven Wonders. There are also the Radan mountain trails, springs and calm. The spa suits recovery, walking and family holidays.

Spring to autumn is loveliest, for the spa, the mountain and a trip to the Devil's Town.

Getting there

From Belgrade about 290 km by motorway to Niš/Prokuplje then via Kuršumlija, around 3.5 hours. A car is most practical.
