Published: 10/06/2026
Sombor is a city in the far northwest of Serbia, in Bačka, near the Hungarian and Croatian borders. Known as the "greenest city in Serbia" for its many tree-lined avenues and parks, it has a calm, elegant and multicultural Vojvodina spirit.
Its centre features a spacious square with the County Hall, one of the finest Baroque buildings in Vojvodina, and a network of leafy avenues. Sombor is surrounded by salaši (farmsteads), plains and canals, ideal for cycling, hunting and fishing.
Accommodation includes hotels, apartments and traditional salaši. Sombor is about two and a half hours from Belgrade.
