Sombor: the greenest city of Vojvodina — a guide

Sombor is a city in north-western Vojvodina, known as one of the greenest cities in Serbia — full of tree-lined avenues and acacias — with a calm, flatland spirit and a tidy centre.

What to see

In the centre are the County Hall (a magnificent building), the City Hall, the cathedral and landscaped squares and avenues by which the city is recognised. Sombor is a city of culture and painting (associated with Milan Konjović). Nearby are the Danube, canals and Bezdan with its famous damask factory.

When to go

Spring to autumn is loveliest, when the avenues are in full green and the city most pleasant for walking.

From Belgrade about 190 km, around 2.5 hours; frequent bus links.
